Foundations of child sexual abuse
This course has been designed to equip you with the knowledge and understanding of child sexual abuse and the role that everyone plays in protecting children and young people and supporting those who have experienced child sexual abuse.
It aims to strengthen your understanding of what child sexual abuse is, how to identify the signs and know the impacts on victims and survivors throughout their lives. The foundational course is designed for a broad range of workers at different levels as well as for community members.
By the end of this course, you will increase your knowledge of:
- Child sexual abuse including the prevalence, key definitions and the types of behaviours and actions.
- The context of adult-perpetrated child sexual abuse including who sexually abuses children, where it occurs, what grooming is and what contributes to child sexual abuse occurring and continuing.
- How to recognise the signs and indicators of child sexual abuse, understanding the impacts on a person’s life and the ripple effect of child sexual abuse.
