The participation of lived experience is considered essential in the human rights movement and is at the heart of the National Centre.
Since its establishment in late 2021, the National Centre has developed a participation framework, however, the demand for consultation from within the organisation and the broader sector outstrips the capacity of the small, supported group of victims and survivor representatives.
In response, The National Centre has this week entered a pre-budget Submission ($500k over 3 years) to expand its lived experience platform to include the coordination, training, support, engagement, and leadership of a 100-person victim and survivor expert panel, who will act across all levels of policy, legislation, planning, program design, service delivery and evaluation.
